Getting to Know Nadine Arton

Nadine Arton and her team lead quite the adventurous life. With her love for different cultures and colors, each of her designs seem to tell its own story. Here, Nadine Arton shares her thoughts about her designs and her dreams for GlamOnYou.

What inspired you to make such eclectic outfits?

Each collection has a different mood and theme and that in particular is what inspires and keeps me focused on putting a full collection together. I draw inspiration from my travels and immersion in other cultures which has a great influence on my style. I work to combine the Middle Eastern flair for color, jewels and bedazzlement with typical European characteristics such as clean lines, sophisticated cuts and draping.

Since you lived all over the world, which culture would you say has influenced you the most?

The Middle Eastern culture influences me the most and especially the women that live here. They are well traveledand independent yet sensitive to the region’s nuances. The spirit of Dubai is a spirit of excitement towards the future and it respects the heritage that surrounds us. The city always dazzles, so I love using embroidery, sequins and embellishments on my pieces to represent this.

Which country did you enjoy living in the most and why?

I have to say Morocco; the colorful market in Marrakesh is so inspiring, I can walk around there for hours and start sketching as soon as I get home.

What was the first piece you made? What's the story behind it?

The first piece I designed was my wedding dress. I wanted something unique and personal for my special day, a dress you can’t buy off the rack. I used soft beige and pistachio colors and long flowy chiffon.

Tell us about the process, were did you get the cloth, what inspired you to make it?

Fabrics and colors excite me! I can easily spend weeks sourcing the right fabrics and creating my own prints for upcoming collections. The places I visit during my travels and the people I meet inspire me but nature is my biggest inspiration. Everything that has colors and is full of life can inspire me in one way or another.

How would you describe the GlamOnYou woman in three words?

Feminine, effortless and glamorous.

Where do you hope is the ultimate destination for GlamOnYou to be displayed?

Colette Boutique in Saint Honoré, Paris.

If you could offer one piece of advice for young and upcoming designers on marketing their brand, what would it be?

You need a good team behind you and it’s important to be confident but realistic. I have a great team that I know I can rely on to offer not only support but honest and open insight, this helps me to better understand the market and is also invaluable in the decision making process for the brand.

The GlamOnYou team is very diverse, with European and Middle Eastern nationalities we work together on building a strong brand identity. We have insight in the Middle Eastern market and a lot of experience in the fashion industry. Working with a good team is really important as they become your family in the fashion world.
