Discussing Heel-less Shoes on WhatsApp
So we decided to try something new and creative. You know how we all have our own style and opinions especially when it comes to fashion, and how our different views make your own style as unique as it is? Well, the Fustany Team and some of our fabulous Guest Writers came together for one night and formed a Secret Chat. We had Shamekh Al-Bluwi and Hanna Rasekh joining us from Amman, Lana El Sahely and Cynithia Nakhle from Beirut and Heidi Raeside from Dubai.
We kept the topic of the chat as a secret and announced it only at the beginning of the chat to see everyone's natural reaction to it. What was it this time? Heel-less shoes! You know the ones usually seen on Lady Gaga and Victoria Beckham, however designers have taken it upon themselves to design their own, and it’s been a trend spreading for quite sometime now.
Amira Azzouz: Now the question is, would you or wouldn't you wear those shoes?
Shamekh Al-Bluwi: Hahaha
Omar Al Sharif: Exactly my reaction Shamekh.
Zeina Tawfik: For the guys, we'd love to know how you'd view ladies walking down the street in them!
Cynthia Nakhle: Definitely not. I find them visually disturbing and not in a good way. I'm all for innovative in fashion but I'm not a fan of this one.
Nancy Hennes: I would, but only if they're comfortable.
Omar Al Sharif: So I will give you my opinion about them, I don't think that anyone can pull off what Daphne Guinness wears.. So it definitely depends on the girl.
Nada Allam: They're cool!!!
Dalia Hosny: I personally love them!
Amira Azzouz: First off, I personally never thought I would go for something like that, but a couple of weeks ago when I went shoe shopping and found them, I was really tempted to try them on, and I did. They didn't look as bad as I thought they would, and I was going to buy them to wear them somewhere crazy once or twice, but then my fiance thought it's a big NO, because I'm no Lady Gaga.
Cynthia Nakhle: For me I'm not a fan of the heelless shoe in general.
Hannah Rasekh: I am a huge Zanotti fan. There's a reason Guiseppe has been nominated designer of the year three times in the last decade. But I'm not very fond of this particular wedge, made famous by Gaga of course. I'm quite petite and love a good heel, but I find them to be too experimental and honestly, they're so 2011. However, let me say that it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it. And if you can pull them off without looking extraterrestrial, then kudos to you!
Omar Al Sharif: I agree with Hannah.
Hannah Rasekh: Thank you
Heidi Raeside: Wow. They're awesome! As is Daphne G! But I wouldn't wear them. They're just not me - and I could fall over my carpet barefooted! They'd have to improve the pavements on Dubai before I tackled them that's for sure. Can't imagine get out of a sand pit park in those monkeys!
Cynthia Nakhle: Hahahahahha
Amira Azzouz: Yeah falling in those heels would be really nasty I must say hehehe
Zeina Tawfik: I'm all for trying new things out, but I wasn't tempted with the heelless shoes thing! I'll share with you what comes on my mind when I think of them... (Coming from someone who can function really well with high heels!) Hehe
Hannah Rasekh: Also, the sexiest part of a woman's foot might just be the heel. So what's the point in going "heel-less"?
Heidi Raeside: Daphne's a collector. It's art.
Hannah Rasekh: Art is subjective.
Cynthia Nakhle: I agree with Hannah. The heel is an elongation of the leg.
Nancy Hennes: I think even if it's heel-less it still gives you the elevation and posture of the heels.
Lana El Sahely: I really like them but when the pair is very very simple. I don't like the spiked and all these on them. Personally I think they do not suit all body structures and that they look better on women with long legs.
Heidi Raeside: They're SO decadent, they're ridiculous really.
Zeina Tawfik: There will always be practical and "runway only" pieces...
Lana El Sahely: I think that as a classic person with ecclesiastic pieces in my closet, I need a simple pair of these just to throw them on a very casual outfit every now and then.
Omar Al Sharif: So girls... As the guy in this group, can you send us a picture of your favorite pair of shoes? Just to be everyone perspective on what you girls like :)
Nancy Hennes: Only one? That's too hard.
Omar Al Sharif: Yes yes I know. Give it a shot.
Lana El Sahely: Okkk wait I'll send you my favorite pair.
Heidi Raeside: There's something so 'disco' about metallic gold stilettos.
Zeina Tawfik: My favorite for upcoming Spring has to be a pair from Sophia Webster!
Heidi Raeside: Top of my wish list right now. Suede and Perspec, but classic shape with toe cleavage.
Lana El Sahely: Oh I loveeee. I'm a shoe person and this conversation is just more envies created hehehe
Omar Al Sharif: Lol
Heidi Raeside: I would have TIGER BLOOD in my veins with those on!
Omar Al Sharif: Chill tiger :) lol
Nada Allam: A pair of shoes that can never go out of style, for me at least...
Zeina Tawfik: I can see a Sex and the City fan here! Hehehe
Nada Allam: Oh Carrie Bradshaw! If only I had her closet...
Nancy Hennes: Love the color very much.
Amira Azzouz: I personally love the diversity of styles here.
Lana El Sahely: I also indulged into Manolos because of Sex and the City. It's incredible how much it affected me. Thank you Amira and Zeina and Fustany. Great and fun initiative.
Omar Al Sharif: Guys around me are asking me why am I looking at shoes. Damn you Fustany ;)
Zeina Tawfik: Okay ladies and gentlemen! I guess that's it for tonight :)
Amira Azzouz: I'm super excited to turn this into a feature.
Heidi Raeside: I wore those Manolos on my Wedding Day in 2009! Great chat, thanks for inviting me. Night all xx
Omar Al Sharif: Great start, looking forward to the next chat.
Amira Azzouz: Same there, thanks everyone and have a great night :)
