Amman Fashion Week Day 3 Diary

Day 3 of Amman Fashion Week was what I would call a blast! I personally loved all of the shows that day, but to be honest I didn't get a chance to attend the first one which was Bijou Couture. Luckily enough, Zeina was there to see it, and here's what she thought: "It was definitely a show I really enjoyed with the fancy cocktail dresses and party wear. Feminine and flirty sums it up with a playful approach. The movie was also a great addition!"

I made it to the second show just on time, sat next to Zeina and Farah Asmar (who I like to call the fashion police) to watch Kamil Shaheen's show. I liked it! Walking down the runway were models sporting mostly black elegant gowns and cocktail dresses with additions such as flowers, sequins and embellishments. A dress I would have ordered right away was the structured LBD. Why? It's super classy and the structured skirt is hard to resist.

Last, but not least were two shows right after one another. Whenever anyone asked me which shows they should try to get invitations to, among my top recommendations were Dina Maqdah and Basma Omar. Starting off with Dina Maqdah, she showcased a range of simple yet really creative pret-a-porter pieces. The things we agreed we would totally be spotted in were the colorful pants (cheerful aren't they?) and the bubble dress. Jewellery in Dina Maqdah's show were by Lumani, and I've seen the pieces made exclusively for the show, which were fabulous, but more about that later.

Basma was next! I have to say both designers understood perfectly what a collection with a theme stands for. Basma Omar called her collection RandomOverload, which adds to the edginess of the pieces. The designs had that certain vibe of "I couldn't care less" but I'm a woman who is very comfortable in her own skin. Hadn't I been a person who's more into colors, then I would have stocked up my wardrobe with the entire collection!

Now back to the informal shows on that day, which included Lumani. I met Luma Qusus Awad on the very first day, and she walked me through her collection, which I found absolutely fabulous. Best bit? The statement pieces are not to be repeated twice! My favorites were the colorful statement necklaces, they kind of looked like candy, the eye mask which was part of Dina Maqdah's show and the cuffs.

To sum it up, it was a great and fun day!
