Yesterday, one of this season's most awaited Couture shows took place! Everyone in the industry and fashion lovers were eager to see what Belgian designer Raf Simons had prepared for us with his first collection for Dior during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Before we get to that part, let's first focus on how beautiful the setup was, with one million flowers ranging from red to blue, it just looked gorgeous. There was quite the buzz about the attendees at the Dior show with celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lawrence and Olivia Palermo in addition to fellow designers such as Diane Von Furstenberg, L'Wren Scott, Marc Jacobs, Alber Elbaz and Donatella and Allegra Versace.
Now back to the show itself, we were a bit shocked with the first look walking down the runway. Before, Dior made us value the true meaning of Haute Couture, the outstanding gowns, which some might argue could belong in a museum and not in real life. With black opening up the show and being present for quite a while, it was somehow disappointing. Things however took a more positive turn, with what we like to call contemporary or modern couture. You could see Raf Simons, who lots of people accuse of having too much of a minimal style, trying to revolutionize what Haute Couture is all about. Call it edgy couture, or trendy, whatever you like, but there's one thing we can all agree on, he gave it quite the twist! With vibrant colors following the black era like red, yellow, fuchsia to mention a few, several fairy-tale like gowns which wowed us and the cool couture dresses/tops. Some of the pieces in this collection will be causing quite the fashionable scene the upcoming season, as we can see fashionistas incorporating some of these couture pieces into their glamorous and daily lives.
All in all, you'll find some disappointed, others might have taken a moment to understand the change that came over Dior and the rest are excited to see such a twist take over the fast moving fashion scene.
