Peplum, Peplum, Peplum! A key word that you should know by heart as it’s a trend that has made a comeback to the catwalk and it looks like it’s here to stay. A peplum is a flaring ruffle trim attached to the waistline of jackets, tops, skirts or dresses. Peplums bring out the ladylike style and have been very popular in the late forties and fifties, now they’re back with a modern posh approach.
From mini frills to dramatic layers of ruffles, the peplum trend was spotted at the Resort 2013 shows. Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Preen, Elie Saab, Altazurra and Giambattista Valli among others have presented the noticeable trend as part of their Resort 2013 collection, marking peplums as one of the most appealing trends to try.
We love peplums as the frills add a statement detail to the garments, creates a very feminine silhouette, enhances curves, cinches-in your waist and gives you an instant tummy tuck – what’s not to love about that trend?
